Olympic Skier Lindsey Vonn: ‘I Hope to Represent the People of United States, Not the President’

*Skiing great Lindsey Vonn has made it clear – she will not be thinking about the President of the United States while wearing the red white and blue in South Korea during the upcoming Winter Olympics.

In an interview with CNN, Tiger Woods’ ex said she is definitely looking forward to representing her country…but not its leader.


“I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president,” Vonn told CNN. She added that if she were invited to the White House after the games, she would “absolutely not” go.

“I want to represent our country well,” she further stated. “I don’t think that there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that.”


Vonn is hoping to lock down her second Olympic gold medal in the upcoming games. She missed the 2014 Winter Olympics due to an injury, and it’s possible rising tensions between the U.S. and North Korea may cause the U.S. to keep its athletes from participating.

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley recently said that it was an “open question” whether the United States should send its athletes to South Korea. At today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated that “no official decision” had been made yet…although she later walked it back:
