As many Marijuana dispensaries are booming in the US, Duval and Davis play two characters in the film who try to grow their own weed that they ultimately want to sell to smoke shops. DJ Pooh who directed the movie hand picked these two to star in what they think will be the next movie classic.
For Duval this is his first lead role in a film and it’s been a long time coming according to him.
“You know how long I’ve been telling jokes trying to do this? That’s the reason I got into this because of ‘Friday,'” he said. I guess it’s not when you want it, it’s when it’s supposed to happen.”
Believe it or not, the 5’2 comedian didn’t even start smoking until well after the movie wrapped. He explained to us why it was destined to happen.
“Honestly, I’ve always liked the way weed smells and the community always embraced me even when I didn’t smoke,” he said. “Even before I smoked, if you look at some old pictures it looked like I smoked. Maybe this is God’s way of telling me boy, roll up.”
He also told us that lighting up makes him more sensitive and emotional to things that make him happy. He used the most recent situation as an example of where he cried after finding out a kid from his hometown was now working at the Breakfast Club on Power 105.1.
“Grow House” opens in select theaters tomorrow (04/20/17).
